Bonsai Society of South Jersey

Meets second Wednesday each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Clover Garden Center, 1017 South Church St., Mt. Laurel, NJ. Contact Tom De Simone (856) 988-9094 or by Email: thomasrose@verizon.net We are a newly formed club which just started in April of 2009 because there were no clubs closer than northern NJ or west of Philadelphia. We are about 11 miles east of Philadelphia. Our sensei is Chase Rosade and our membership consists of experienced bonsai people and novices. We meet at a large garden center which carries bonsai and supplies.

January, 2010 meeting. One of our members, Karen Harkaway, led a discussion and presentation on Bonsai Development.

We had an excellent meeting on Wednesday, April 14th with about 20 attendees. I gave a presentation on wiring with a brand new slide projector which turned out to be cranky and kept blinking on and off. I fixed it the next day but it was a glitch in the presentation I didn’t appreciate. My apologies to all.

Three new people came to our meeting, welcome and we hope you enjoyed yourselves and will come back and join our group.

The upcoming schedule, May through August is:

** Saturday, May 22nd (Change of Date) Workshop, 9AM to 1PM

** Wednesday, June 9th, Regular Meeting, one hour talk on Pinching. I asked for volunteers to give this class and I am asking all in our E-Mail audience, If you are attending the June 9th meeting and would like to volunteer to give a talk on this subject, we would like to hear from you.

** Saturday, July 10th, Workshop, 9AM to 5PM

** Wednesday, August 11th, Standard Meeting.

We are also asking our members to consider allowing one or two of their trees to be shown during the Ocean City Flower Show, Saturday, June 6th. Our member and Treasurer, Frank Leone heads up this show and we should both support his efforts and get our name out to the public at large.

I’ll have one tree at the show. How about you?? J

Clover Garden Center has just ordered a new shipment of bonsai soil, aluminum wire and other tools and things. If you have a need, please support them with your business.
